The Teknix TKRC100B Review
This dual fuel range cooker offers you the luxury of cooking on gas burners and using an electric oven which is regarded by many as the ultimate way to cook your meals.
Style And Design
This model comes in black and looks modern. The design will fit in with many styles of kitchen that have a modern feel and looks robust and well built. The line are very straight and the glass doors and black gloss finish blend well together. A great looking addition to any kitchen.
Will It Fit In My Kitchen
The TKRC100B is a large range cooker but not one of the biggest so should be a good fit for quite a few kitchens. Even if you kitchen is more on the modest size you could probably squeeze this model in. And also remember the large burner area also give you storage that would have been work tops.
The dimensions are as follows, make sure you check you have measured your kitchen!
- Height 900mm
- Width 1000mm
- Depth 600mm
The depth is very standard in UK kitchens at 600mm so you shouldn’t have any problems there, it is fairly wide compared to a conventional cooker but not the widest range cooker. The height is also pretty standard for UK work tops. If you are replacing an existing cooker of this width this model should drop straight in.
The Features
The TKRC100B offers many great features that will make your kitchen a much easier and stress free place to cook. Any big family gatherings will be a breeze with this range cooker compared to a standard cooker.
The 8 Burner Gas Hob
This is a great hob that offers you instant heat from the gas burners and gives you a lot of space to cook with pans and also store trays and pans that have just come out of the oven. If you are cooking many small components of a meal in small pans this set up will be invaluable. The enamel pan stand will with stand the daily use of family cooking and the burners are lit with an automatic button lighter. On the down side this model doesn’t have the really powerful wok burner that you may need from time to time but for most people it is not essential.
The Main Oven
The main oven is a great size cavity at 48 litres that will be able to cope with most meals on its own with out having to use the auxiliary oven. It is an electric fan oven which gives very controllable and evenly spread heat for the perfect bakes and roasts. The glass doors combined with the oven light allow you to keep a heck on the food while it is cooking. The timer allows you to program the oven to come on whenever you need it to if you are out and about, great if you have a very busy schedule. All in all a good day to day oven.
The Auxiliary Oven
This back up oven is there for those large meals that need a lot of space to cook. It is a good size also at 48 litres and will fit a large joint of meat in easily with adjustable shelves. It is a conventional electric oven that will do the basics very well. Not an oven that you would want as the main oven but a great back up. It also has glass doors and internal light.
The Grill
The grill is a standard electric grill with varying temperature control and adjustable shelves for grilling different foods. It is also great to keep things warm if needs be. A basic but effective design for a grill that has been around for many years.
Storage Compartment
Situated in the bottom right of the range cooker is a good size storage compartment for pans or to keep things like plates warm while you are cooking. This a nice touch as we can often get over run by utensils and crockery mid way through cooking.
Warranty
The Teknix TKRC100B range cooker comes with a 2 years parts and labour warranty. This is great for peace of mind. Even though this model is at the budget end of the market it is still a considerable investment to make and you want to make sure it will serve your family well.
Summing It Up
This is a great value range cooker that is great for anyone that needs to keep the costs down. The features are basic but will be absolutely fine in most homes. It will give you cooking capacity and a bit of style but won’t break the bank. If you are a keen amateur chef then we would advise you to move up into the higher range models for more functionality from both ovens and the hob. But all in all if you are on a tight budget this is a great place to start and this model has some great customer reviews.
