The Britannia Delphi 100cm XG Review
The British company pride themselves on offering beautifully crafted cookers with attention to detail in every area and this model doesn’t disappoint. For those of you with a big budget and eye for detail read on.
Will It Fit In My Kitchen
This should fit into most kitchens perfectly well. It is not too big but offers very good capacity for its size. It would suit a medium size kitchen and would eave plenty of space for other things.
The dimensions are:
- Height 910mm to 920mm depending on adjustment
- Width 995mm
- Depth 600mm
These are pretty standard sizes for a UK kitchen so you won’t need an unusual size space to fit it in.
Style And Design
This cooker is all about style. Every little bit of the design has been well thought about to give a cooker that will set your kitchen apart. The controls are really nicely finished to look robust but refined and are all lined up nicely with the timer. The stainless steel finish around the hob finishes off the top of the range cooker very nicely. The overall feel of the cooker is minimal but high quality, this will look good in any situation.
This model is available in a number of finishes to suit your kitchen and preferences. There is gloss red, gloss black, cream and stainless steel finishes available, each of them give the cooker a different feel. The black and stainless steel finishes feel a lot more modern and clinical whereas the cream the red finishes add a bit of warmth and personality to your kitchen. Its a nice touch to be able to choose your colour.
The hob looks like it has come out of a commercial kitchen, it looks high quality and tough as well as refined and well defined. Its a hard balance to strike but Britannia have managed it well.
The Features
The Delphi 100cm XG offers so many features that there are bound to be the ones you need. We will go through them below and you can see if it suits you. Some of the technology used it cutting edge and won’t be found on cheaper brands and models.
The Induction Hob
Induction hobs are the way forward, they give you instant heat and very controllable heat on an easy to clean surface. This is a feature that is only available on the very expensive cookers and once you have used it you won’t want to go back to the normal hobs. There are five zones for cooking on to give you plenty of space and cooking capacity ranging from 1100 watts for the small pans to a powerful 3000 watts for the big pans. Another great feature with the induction hobs is that once they are turned off they are not hot. They are also incredibly efficient to run.
The 6 Brass Gas Hob
For the traditionalists amongst you the Britannia Delphi also has a gas hob option. Gas is preferred by so many people and this model has six high quality brass burners. The burners consist of two wok burners at a whopping 5kw each, one large burner at 3kw and three smaller 1.75kw burners. This is a considerable step up in power from some of the mid range models.
The flexibility of being able to choose the hob is great to get the cooker set up exactly how you want it.
The Main Oven
The main oven is situated on the left hand side of the cooker and has many great features. It is easy to manage multiple trays with telescopic shelves making it very safe. For ease and speed of use the main oven has a fast pre heat setting and nine pre set oven functions for different types of cooking. If you need extra grill space it also has a grill element. There is a programmable meat probe and timer to make sure you cook very accurately. There is a rotisserie for the lovely spit roasts on a Sunday. A great oven that caters for every eventuality. The oven doors are triple glazed to give maximum efficiency which also keeps the outside cooler.
The Auxiliary Oven
On a mid range model this would be a great main oven and is very useful on its own. It’s slightly smaller than the main oven at 54 litres but still plenty big enough. It is very similar to the main ovens so it easier to talk about the things that differ to the main oven. It only has four pre set programs, it doesn’t have the fast pre heat setting and it doesn’t have the programmable timer. Apart from this it is the same and is very good quality oven.
Both ovens are lined with stay clean liners and removable oven doors to make cleaning a quick and easy job.
Storage Cavity
The bottom right of the cooker is dedicated to a storage capacity for pots and pans and anything else you need to store near the cooker. No more walking from one end of the kitchen to the other to get all of you pans together you can keep them close at hand. You can also use this space to keep things warm.
Summing It Up
This is a great example of a high quality range cooker that gives options in set up including finish and type of hob. This is not a range cooker for anyone on a budget, it is expensive and a luxury. There are plenty of range cookers that will be more than powerful enough for a large family at a lot less money but if you want a high end kitchen or are a keen chef then this would be a good choice.
The Britannia Delphi is all about build quality and the service that goes with the brand is second to none. With this model you are buying a great customer service as well as a great product. For those of you that like the finer things in life we would highly recommend this model.
